Breathing Issues & SIDS

Hello mamas and welcome back to the Pregnancy with Physio Laura podcast.

Today we are kicking off episode 3 in the Baby Fist Aid series, diving into common breathing problems in young children and the current SIDS guidelines. This is episode 3 of a 4 part Baby First Aid series with the amazing midwife, nurse and first aid educator Edwina Sharrock.

In case you missed it, we have already released the first 2 episodes in this Baby First Aid series covering choking prevention and management. A must-listen for all parents, so make sure you go and check those episodes out first.

A side note for this episode, you might hear me mention that I’ve never had to take my children to hospital. Well I went and jinxed myself didn’t I! Since I recorded this episode my son Massi came down with croup and we needed to call the ambulance and have a quick hospital visit. Fortunately everything was fine, but the look, listen and feel approach to breathing that Edwinas discusses in this episode really helped me assess the situation prior to calling the ambulance. So I hope you find it as helpful as I did and fingers crossed you don’t actually need to put it in practice like me!

Now let’s get into episode 3 of our 4 part Baby First Aid series. You are going to love today’s chat with Edwina as we dive into the current SIDS guidelines and common breathing issues in young children.
